The Euros is the first major of the IBJJF season and one of the largest gi tournaments in the world. Here is what you need to know to compete or follow along in Odivelas, just outside Lisbon.
When and where
The championship runs January 13 to 23, 2027 in Odivelas, on the edge of Lisbon, Portugal. The event is spread across many days and split by belt, age, and weight, so your division likely falls on a single day. Check the official schedule for your exact day and mat.
Registering
Entry is through the IBJJF, and every competitor needs a current IBJJF membership. Registration closes well before the first match, and the fee rises the longer you wait. The most common and most painful mistake is missing the early deadline, so lock in your division early rather than paying a late fee or missing out.
On the day
IBJJF weigh-ins happen right before you compete, in your full gi. There is no weighing in the night before and rehydrating, so you have to make weight on the day or you are out. Bring a backup gi that meets IBJJF rules on color and patches in case the first one is turned away.
How to follow it
Finals from the main mats are usually streamed, and the brackets update live through each day, so you can track a competitor in real time. The stream link and live brackets go up on the official event page once the event begins.
Traveling to Lisbon
Odivelas is a short trip from Lisbon's airport and well served by the city's metro. If you are flying in to compete, give yourself a day to settle and find a local gym for a light roll before you step on the mat. More IBJJF events are listed below.
